Why We’re Doing This
When we tell people we bought an RV and are planning to live on the road full time, we usually get one of two responses:
“That’s amazing—what a dream!”
or
“Why would you do that to yourselves?”
Both are fair. But here’s our “why.”
We love to travel.
It’s not just a hobby—it’s who we are. We met while serving at NATO in Belgium and spent our military careers bouncing between bases, continents, and time zones. Between us, we’ve lived all over the world and collected memories (and stray cats) in places most people only see in guidebooks.
So after four years of staying put in the Seattle suburbs, we started to feel… stuck.
The cost of standing still is too high.
Literally. King County, Washington is beautiful—but it’s expensive. Rent, groceries, insurance, utilities—it all adds up fast. For what we’re paying just to exist here, we realized we could be living an adventure instead.
So we started crunching numbers. Then dreaming. Then researching. And eventually, we bought the RV.
We want to explore the U.S.—together.
We still plan to move back to Europe someday. But while our kids are in school and rooted in Montana, we wanted to make the most of our time stateside. Our summers and holidays will be filled with shared campfires, hikes, road trips, and National Parks. We’re creating memories, not just routines.
We're different—but complementary.
Juanita is no stranger to a nomadic life. As a retired Army Colonel, she’s moved more than 20 times, often to remote locations around the world. She's at home with minimalist living, creative problem solving, and dusty boots.
Brandon, on the other hand, grew up in Massachusetts and didn’t move as much—even during his time in the Air Force. He prefers stability, tech, good wifi, and having the right gadget for every scenario.
Together? We’re a mix of grounded and adventurous, spontaneous and systematized—and we think that balance will make RV life not only possible, but incredible.
So that’s our why.
We’re chasing freedom. Building connection. Seeing this country up close. And doing it on our terms, with our two cats, lots of world travel experience, and a whole lot of curiosity.
We’re not running away from anything. We’re running toward the life we want.
