Wine Tasting Cheat Sheet

The main reason I started Anchored Vines was a passion for wine/winemaking and to make wine more approachable to those who are intimidated by the vast world of prices, varietals, and fun labels. I also learned a valuable lesson years ago while doing a Belgian Beer tour in Brussels where we toured several pubs and tried all sorts of beers from common to world renown. At the end of the tour, our guide very eloquently explained that although Belgium makes some of the “scientifically best beers in the world”, it doesn’t mean they’re for everyone or will be enjoyed by some. The enjoyment of any beverage is contextual and factors not only your taste preferences, but the situation you’re in, your mindset, people you may be with, and memories attached while you enjoy the first sip. This applies to wine as well, and I never judge anyone based on what they are drinking, but rather I try to help them understand why they like it and introduce them to other things they might enjoy as well.

In this effort, I have created a quick and easy cheat sheet that anyone can use to think through what they are drinking, and then find other bottles like it, or possibly a new varietal! You can download as a PDF and print out for your own use and hopefully it will lead you to your next favorite sip or memory!
